Choosing a Good Roofer

How to Choose a Good Roofer for your Project

Choosing the tradesman for any project is often a daunting task. Schedules are often full, some businesses may be difficult to get in touch with, and you simply just never know who you are contacting. As a longstanding roofer in Cambridge and Arlington, we understand this process personally and try to make it as easy as possible for our customers. Below are some frequently asked questions we have compiled over the years to help you choose a good roofer for your upcoming project.

Does A Good Roofer Have Insurance?

Absolutely.

This could not be more valuable. For starters, lacking insurance is often a warning sign that this individual or company may not be entirely legitimate.  Secondly, you want your home protected if something happens. Let’s face it, accidents happen whether we want them to or not. It goes without saying that most companies will do everything in their power to avoid this; however, you want the peace of mind that your home and belongings will be protected.

Do Roofers Need a License for the Job?

Yes.

Construction permitting is often a task in itself, therefore, it is wise to choose a roofing company that is licensed so that they can handle this process for you. Unlicensed work sets you up for a myriad of issues, including the most egregious, a stop work order. These orders can shut down work entirely until permits are secured, or issues are assuaged. Any good roofer will always pull permits before a job to ensure there are no issues.

How Well Do You Trust Your Roofer?

How often do you listen to your gut feeling? There is a reason why you feel this way. When perusing estimates or speaking with company representatives, it is imperative that you feel confident in your decision and comfortable with the organization that you are choosing. Roofs are not a cheap process, and it makes it much easier if you can trust who is doing your work.

For example, here are some of our reviews from Arlington and Cambridge that show how a good roofer goes above and beyond to create comfort in their clients:

The job went very well.  The crew showed up on schedule.  They were polite,  courteous and professional about their work.  They did a fabulous job of cleaning up and removing all debris.  I cannot say enough good things about the experience of working with Ranch Roofing and Bob O’Sullivan, who was very responsive to my needs and questions.   I would recommend them to anyone. -Arlington 2014

“Fantastic. We decided not to choose the low bidder because we were removing the roof during a raining spring in order to install a new dormer, followed by complete re-roofing. We made the right decision. Ranch prepared and executed the construction flawlessly. We were equally as pleased with their service; Todd, Bob and Dave were very responsive and a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Ranch!” – Arlington 2018
